ACS Is Going All-Digital In Walker, Akeley, Nevis and Longville On September 14th

ACS has been working to upgrade the cable television network in Walker, Akeley, Nevis and Longville from an analog to digital format. We plan to permanently cut-over to our new digital signal on September 14th at 10am. This new format provides a digital quality signal to all TV's connected to our network, it also improves picture quality and it allows us to expand our channel lineup in the future.

ACS Two Star customers in Walker, Akeley, Nevis and Longville should make sure that their DTA is connected to the television. If it is not connected properly you will lose television signal as early as August 31st, as we start to turn the analog channels off. Click here for DTA connection instructions

Following is the schedule for the digital signal test:

  • August 31: 2:10pm - 2:40pm
  • September 2: 9:20am - 9:40am
  • September 7: 9am - Noon
  • September 8: 3pm - 7pm
The analog channels will be permanently turned off on September 14th.

If you live in the above areas, are an ACS Two Star customer and you DO NOT have an ACS DTA installed on televisions that require one, call 547-4227 prior to August 31st or your television service will be interrupted.

It is important to note that televisions receiving Three and Four Star service will not be affected by this conversion. However, if a Three and Four Star customer has additional televisions that receive only Two Star services and the DTA has been disconnected, that TV will lose its signal. Please re-connect the DTA to that television. Also, if you have a newer digital television and an ACS technician has determined a DTA is not necessary for that TV please be aware that you will need to begin using the XX.XX (example: 56.10) channel numbers beginning September 14th. Click here for the channel card.

If you have any questions please call 1-866-937-4227 or send us an e-mail at answers@arvig.com. Thank you for your patience while we update our network. We appreciate your business.

ACS Introduces Its Newest Connection: All-Digital Television

Arvig Communication Systems is beginning a multi-year project in June 2009, which will lead ACS Digital TV into a high-quality, all-digital format at no additional cost to customers*. This will give the company the ability to offer more channels and advanced services in the future.

As a result, the current analog television signal provided to Digital TV customers, who subscribe to Two, Three and Four Star digital TV plans, will be converted to a high-quality, all-digital signal at no additional charge*. ACS customers on an Entertainment or One Star Plan will not be affected by this project.

A Digital to Analog Converter (DTA) will be installed on all televisions that receive Two Star service. Customers with newer, digital televisions may not require the installation of a DTA to continue receiving Two Star service. If a DTA is not required, customers may need to reprogram their televisions. An ACS technician will determine whether or not a DTA is needed to receive ACS service in their home.

Three and Four Star customers will have DTAs installed on TVs not currently connected to an ACS digital set-top box, but still receiving ACS Digital TV service. While at the home, ACS technicians will also check signal levels to ensure that all customers are receiving high-quality, all-digital ACS service.

Again, there is no additional monthly charge for the DTA box. ACS will contact customers to schedule their DTA installation.

It is important to note that this project is not related to the government's DTV transition, which concludes on June 12, 2009.

ACS would like to thank its customers in advance for their cooperation in completing this project and looks forward to providing them with additional services in the future.

All-Digital Television Q&A

What is the All-Digital Television Connection? This is an all-digital signal which will allow ACS the ability to offer more channels and advanced service in the future.

What does this mean to me? If you receive Two Star service on a television that does not currently have an ACS set-top box, ACS will install a Digital to Analog Converter (DTA) onto that television. An ACS technician will determine if ACS Digital customers (Two, Three and Four Star) will need to have a DTA installed on televisions that don't currently have an ACS set-top box connected to them. ACS Digital One Star and Entertainment Plan customers will not be affected by this project.

What if I have a digital television? If you have a newer, digital television we may not have to install a DTA, an ACS Technician will determine whether or not a DTA is needed. However, the channel numbers will be different on your digital televison and you will need to re-program your TV to see all of the channels. You may decide to have a DTA installed since you are already familiar with our current channel numbers.

How big is the DTA? It's approximately 4"x6."

Will there be a monthly charge for the DTA? No, there is not an additional monthly charge for the DTA.*

Will there be an installation charge for the DTA? No, standard installation of the DTA is free*.

When will I be contacted for installation of my free* DTA? ACS will start contacting customers in July 2009.

Will I receive any additional services with my DTA? Yes, you will have access to DMX Music, this is 30 channels of commercial-free music 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How can I get high-definition (HD) or Digital Video Recorder (DVR) service? HD and DVR services require a specific set-top box to be installed in your home. Please call 1-866-YES-4ACS or sign-up online via arvig.com ( click here).

If you have a question that we haven't answered, please e-mail answers@arvig.com, stop by your local ACS Retail Center or call 1-866-YES-4ACS.
