Removal of Static IP on Windows XP

  1. Single-click on the Start button in the lower left corner.

  2. Then click on Control Panel

  3. Click on Network and Internet connection

  4. Click on Network Connection

  5. You should see a Local Area Connection icon

  6. Right click on Local Area Connection and then left click on Properties.

  7. A window will open called Local Area Connection Properties

  8. Make sure that there is a check in the check box in front of Internet Protocols (TCP/IP)

  9. Click once on Internet Protocols (TCP/IP) to highlight it.

  10. Click the Properties button.

  11. Select Obtain an IP address automatically

  12. Then select Obtain DNS server address automatically

  13. Then click the OK button on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window

  14. Then click the OK or Close button on the Local Area Connection Properties window

  15. You can now close the Network Connection window

  16. Finally, Click Start and Turn Off Computer, and Click Restart.

  17. Your computer should now be ready to start using the internet again.
